The Best Concession deal boils down to this: Neither side gets everything they want. The Public option Healthcare is terribly flawed for two basic reasons: First, The Public health care programs we have now, Medicaid Medicare and VA care- need an overhaul bad, and the fear is that these programs would be shoved aside and not dealt with. Second, there are no incentives, no Tax Deductions or tax breaks to encourage healthier, more responsible lifestyles. Over two thirds of Americans, including the insured are overweight and suffer related illnesses, such as diabetes and heart disease.
Want to bring healthcare costs down? Start where it all begins, at the grocery store: Just about everyone has a Store Card (Kroger's, for example): Have all Dietic/Sugarfree food ring up at a 50% discount for Seniors, the disabled and diabetics. That's what I'd call a Stimulus. The food industry would get a shot in the arm, the government would restore public confidence and the most vulnerable of our society would get the kind of food they need at an affordable price.
